Secret Santa Jam - Operation Snagov
This past month I've been participating in the Secret Santa Jam 2020. A Game Jam where you have a month to make a game for another participant as a christmas present.
The game I made for my giftee is mostly inspired by The Binding of Isaac and Quentin Tarantino.
Operation Snagov is a Rogue-Lite that takes place during the Romanian Revolution in 1989. But it's not historically accurate at all.
During the development of Operation Sangov I learned quite a bit about the Godot Engine.
And I managed to develop tho systems that I'm very proud of:
One is destructible environment, where the system automatically takes the sprite of the destroyed object and cuts it up in the correct way so that the debris has the right parts of what was previously the object.
And the second one is a blood splatter effect where the bloody pixels remain indefinitely without impacting the peformance.
But also the random level generation that dynaically loads available rooms made developing new rooms very easy. I just needed to place them in the correct folder and they automatically used within the game.
All in all I'm very happy with how the game turned out and with what I managed to accomplish.
