Burrow Bashers

Entry for the 95th TriJam. This game was made in 3 hours. The Theme this week is: Hamsters

Story

My fellow Hamsters!
Have you heard the news?
Our neighbors bacame evil!
We need to protect our burrows
and defeat the evil force!
They have higher numbers
but we have strategy on our side!

How to play

The map contains multiple burrows where hamsters spawn.

Each burrow has a different spawn rate and a maximum capacity.

When two hamsters of opposing teams touch both die and the burrow from which they spawned will spawn a new one.

Your hamsters (orange color) spawn on the right side of the map
while the evil hamsters (grey) spawn on the left.

Hamsters walk around aimlessly with a strong tendency to go towards the right.
Use your mouse to draw directions for your hamsters.
Left mouse button hold and drag to create directions.
Right click to remove them.

Swarm enemy burrows to flip them to your side. When one of your hamsters touches an enemy burrow they die but also take some of the health of the burrow down. When the health of the burrow reaches 0 it gets flipped to the opposite team and will spawn hamsters of that team (as soon as the previously spawned hamsters died to make room in the spawn capacity).

But be careful to not let the evil hamsters overrun your own burrows.

Capture all burrows to win.
Try to get the best time.

Tips

Remember that hamsters will naturally swarm towards the right.

When placing directions around a corner make sure that the directions overlap so all your hamsters get around the corner.

When it seems like you are not making any progress try to focus all your hamsters on a single one of the enemy's burrows.

Keep an eye out for groups of hamsters that are stuck somewhere. Hamsters often get stuck at contradicting directions or nooks without directions to lead them somewhere.

Look where enemy hamsters spawn to find out which burrows are not your own. I know it would be a good idea to make this easier to spot by a different color for the health bar, but I ran out of time.
